COILED SPRINGPRO
Every big move starts in a quiet market. Coiled Spring scores how tightly a stock is coiling, twenty checks for a tension of 0 to 100, and marks the candle the spring snaps: volume surging, a close out of the coil. Green arrow, Spring Up. Red arrow, Spring Down.
Let me open with a question.
What if you could see the pressure building before the move?
Not after the stock has already run 10%. Not after the breakout is on every scanner. While it's still sitting there, quiet, coiling tighter and tighter, and nobody is paying attention.
That's what Coiled Spring was built for.
Springs like these, every one of them dated:
- AUG 19 · IBIT Spring Up ★★★★★ at $38.78 (daily) — the star target at $47.38, +22% in 33 days
- AUG 19 · ETHA Spring Up ★★★★★ at $15.88 (daily) — the star target at $20.04, +26% in 23 days
I'll show you exactly how each one formed. But first, who I am, and then one of these, chart by chart.

My name is Ben. I've been part of building trading tools for close to a decade, me and a really great team: TriTrader+, MagniZone, the Morning Power Hour system, OCP, EFC, 5 Candle Master, Green Light Options and others thousands of traders have used.
Our options team has over 20 years of combined experience in the trenches. And if there is one thing every one of us agrees on, it is this: the quiet comes before the move.
Here's what you're going to see in this briefing:
- The twenty checks that tell you a stock is coiling.
- The tension panel under the chart, and the moment the spring is armed.
- The snap: the one candle that breaks the coil.
- IBIT on August 19, chart by chart.
- What we found when we tested it, told straight.
- How often it happens: in the last 30 days Coiled Spring Live called 6 springs on 6 different stocks and ETFs.
The August 19 spring
IBIT on the daily chart. Watch it go
That's a coil. The candles get smaller, the averages bunch up, volume dries out. Coiled Spring was counting all of it: by the snap, the tension read 85 of 100.
Most traders scroll right past a chart like this. Nothing is happening. That's exactly the point.
On August 19 the spring
The entry is the close of the snap candle, the stop sits under the coil, and the whole trade runs to the star target. The more tension at the snap, the more stars, and the further that target sits.
And then…
IBIT had been coiling, its tension up to 85 of 100. On August 19 a candle broke out of the coil on 3.3× its usual volume and closed at $38.78: a Spring Up ★★★★★. It ran all the way to the star target, $47.38 in 33 days: +22% on the stock.
The same call on our own chart, with the tension panel under the candles:
Watch it happen, candle by candle
Here are 2 real springs played back. Press play: the coil, the snap, the targets and the stop, and how it ended.
Real calls, played from their own candles.
Why sideways markets chop traders up
Here's the trap.
A stock goes sideways. It pokes up, so they buy. It drops back, they sell. It pokes down, they short. It snaps back up. Every poke looks like the breakout, and every one of them costs a little.
By the time the real move comes, they're out of patience, out of money for the day, or looking the other way.
The fix isn't trading the chop better. It's not trading it at all, and being ready the moment it ends.
Quiet before loud
Here's the idea the whole thing is built on.
Markets breathe. A big move breathes out. Then the market breathes in: the range shrinks, volume fades, the averages bunch together, momentum goes flat. Big players build positions without pushing the price.
That pressure has to go somewhere. The tighter the coil, the more energy is stored, and the more it tends to matter when price finally breaks out of it with volume behind it.
Coiled Spring doesn't guess when that happens. It measures the coil, and it waits for the snap.
Twenty checks, one number
Every candle, Coiled Spring runs twenty checks for compression, 5 points each. Together they make the tension: 0 to 100.
The averages pinch
The 10, 20, 50 and 100 EMAs squeeze together, and price sits right on the 20 and the 50.
The bands squeeze
The Bollinger Bands slip inside the Keltner Channels and keep getting narrower.
The range shrinks
The short ATR drops under the long one, the ATR under its 100-candle average, the 10-candle range under 1%.
Momentum goes flat
RSI between 40 and 60, a flat MACD, ADX under 22, a flat rate of change, CCI inside ±50.
The candles go quiet
Volume dries up and holds steady; small bodies, inside bodies, closes that barely move.
Armed at 60. When the tension reaches 60 in one of the last 3 candles, the spring is armed: the column under the chart turns white.
The snap. An armed spring snaps on a candle with volume over 1.4× its 10-candle average that closes in the top 30% of its range and above the high of the 15 candles before it: a Spring Up. The mirror image is a Spring Down. After a snap the spring rests for 15 candles.
The stars. More tension at the snap, more stars, from ★★ to ★★★★★, and a further target: 3, 4.5, 6 or 9 ATRs from the close. The TradingView script draws no stop, so ours adds one under the coil. Coiled Spring 2.0 calls only the ★★★★ and ★★★★★ springs, on the daily chart.
What we found when we tested it
I'll be straight with you, because you should know this before you buy.
We ran the TradingView script over 248 stocks and ETFs: ten years of daily charts and two years of 1-hour, 30-minute and 4-hour. As written, the snap on its own was close to a coin flip on every chart: some springs run to the star target, plenty go nowhere.
So we tested more, and kept only what held up on years the test had never seen. That's Coiled Spring 2.0: the daily chart, with the script's limits read against each stock's own volatility so a daily chart can coil, and only the strongest springs, ★★★★ and ★★★★★. To the script's own star target it made about +0.2R a call on the years we tuned it on and +0.35R on the three years after. That's a modest edge, not a money machine: a little over half the calls make money, and it wins by the size of the springs that run. Coiled Spring Live calls those, and only those.
And the tension is still the best map of where the pressure is: the panel tells you which charts are coiled and ready, before anyone else is looking at them.
Every call it makes stays on the record, wins and losses. The ones on this page are the best of them, dated, so you can see what a good spring looks like.
The receipts
More springs. Every one of these is a real Coiled Spring call, dated, on our own charts.
August 19. ETHA: a
ETHA had been coiling, its tension up to 90 of 100. On August 19 a candle broke out of the coil on 3.4× its usual volume and closed at $15.88: a Spring Up ★★★★★. It ran all the way to the star target, $20.04 in 23 days: +26% on the stock.
The newest spring
As I write this, CELH is an open Spring Up from $29.72, called Oct 19. It is one of 5 springs open right now.

The questions I'd ask before buying this
What does it call?
Coiled Spring 2.0: the ★★★★ and ★★★★★ Spring Ups on the daily chart. Spring Downs and the intraday snaps are drawn on your charts the way TradingView draws them, never called.
Does it win every time?
No. A little over half the calls made money in our tests; the edge comes from the springs that run. The script as written, every snap on every chart, tested close to a coin flip, which is why only the strongest daily springs are called.
Does it repaint?
No. A snap is called on a closed candle and kept exactly as it was made.
Does it read volume?
Yes. Volume is part of the tension (it dries up in a coil) and of the snap (a surge over 1.4× its average).
Do I need TradingView?
No. Coiled Spring Live runs in your members area. The TradingView indicator is included and works on the free plan.
I already own Coiled Spring. Do I need this?
No. It is already in your members area. This page is for traders who do not have it yet.
Is this a subscription?
No. $497 once, lifetime access. No monthly or yearly charges.

Two versions of the next coil
Somewhere this week a stock will go quiet. Its range will shrink, its volume will fade, and almost nobody will notice.
In one version, you find it after it has already broken out and run, and you chase it.
In the other, it was already on your list, armed, and you were ready for the snap.
The quiet comes before the move. Coiled Spring shows you the quiet.
